Nasharudin (left) said today the PAS leadership was not informed of Nizar’s plan after his swearing-in ceremony in Parliament yesterday.
KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 Malaysian Insider : – PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa today denied that he had distanced himself from Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin’s action in Parliament yesterday, but refused to say whether he supports the Bukit Gantang MP.
Yesterday, the Agenda Daily news website reported that Nasharudin had said the party central leadership did not agree with Nizar’s action.
The former Perak mentri besar was suspended for two days with six other Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers for wearing headbands bearing the words “Bubar DUN” and chanting “Hidup Rakyat.”
Nasharudin clarified that he had said that the party leadership was not informed of Nizar’s plan after the swearing-in ceremony.
He added that PAS would have been better prepared if Nizar had briefed the party.
“I was also surprised,” said Nasharudin.
“It has happened, so we just accept it as it is,” he added.
Nasharudin described Nizar’s action as spontaneous and that he had succeeded in publicising the Perak political crisis through his action.
The PAS chief whip also said that no disciplinary action will be taken against Nizar.
